ASTM WK90340
During the normal course of play, impacts between the athlete and walls or other fixed objects in close proximity, are to be expected. Such impacts pose a potential threat of injury to the athlete. Padding is one tool used to “protect” and reduce the likelihood of both catastrophic head injuries and other physical injuries. Padding will not eliminate the risk of injury. Depending on the sport and the proximity of the walls or fixed objects, the type of padding and the layout of that padding is likely to differ. This guide identifies specific considerations to help the designer, builder or operator make more informed decisions regarding the use of padding.
