ASTM WK89863
Additively manufactured components may be contaminated by internal defects, such as porosity. In order to check that a component is fit for service, it must be checked for porosity, non-destructively. X-ray computed tomography can be used to measure porosity in additively manufactured components, non-destructively and can provide information on the size, shape, and location of pores in a component. To measure the porosity of a sample using X-ray computed tomography requires a pore segmentation image processing algorithm. Commercial pore segmentation algorithms have many user-defined settings, this leads to a high degree of user influence, thus a standard pore segmentation method is needed to minimise user influence and yield agreement of results between different end users.
