1. Scope
This test method covers the determination of indentation hardness of steel, stainless steel, and related alloys (metallic materials) using an indenter, holder and a calibrated shear pin
The Brinell hardness of the metallic material being tested can be estimated by comparing the indent diameter to a Brinell hardness value in a chart supplied by the manufacturer.
Shear pin loading can be applied by either impact (hammer strike) or static (C clamp).
