Rationale

The definition of “ferrous” as opposed to “non-ferrous" was revised many years ago to read “metals and alloys that contain iron as the principal component” as opposed to alloys containing 51% iron. A group of austenitic alloys know as the N08xxx alloys had originally been given Nickel Alloy UNS numbers and covered by various B02.07 Specifications. These alloys are to be moved into the corresponding A01 specifications. This process was started with priority given to alloys that were referenced in the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code. With that done, this item is one of a group of items to relocate the rest of the N08xxx grades into A01 specifications. Once this activity is completed, attention will be given to eliminating duplication by correcting the B02.07 specifications to remove the alloys, or delete the specifications as warranted. This item is to add UNS Grades N08031 and N08330 to A403
