Rationale

This standard was intended to replace UNI-B-13, which was originally used to qualify thrust restraint “device designed to be attached to gasketed joints PVC pipe” products. Products that are external to the pipe should have qualifications for use with the pipe. Pipe joints that are integral to the pipe should be used in applications as intended by the manufacturer. This ballot provides clarification to test products that are external to the pipe joints.
