1. Scope

This document specifies the standard measuring conditions and methods for optical properties of fixed resolution ultra-violet engine in additive manufacturing. This document is applicable to manufacturers of additive manufacturing optical engines and additive manufacturing systems for the evaluation of UV engines.

Rationale

Fixed resolution UV engine (DLP, LCD) based 3D printer is widely used. The UV engine is key part of this kind of 3D printer, and great effects the properties of 3D printer. Most UV engines are provided by projection display relative manufacturer. The measuring methods for optical properties of projection display are usually used in UV engine measurement and bring about great error. It is necessary to establish measuring methods for optical properties of this kind of UV engine. This standard is being developed jointly with ISO TC261 per the PSDO agreement between ASTM & ISO; it will carry the designation ISO/ASTM52960 once complete/.
