Rationale

The current standard provides the general guidelines for consideration of different materials for life cycle assessment. As such, it is an evolving document as more materials are being assessed. This work item will provide updates to the current document regarding enhancements to the recyclability of plastics materials. This version specifically revises the title and definition of ‘mass balance’ to be ‘mass balance chain of custody’, makes further requested clarifications to Section 6 on mass balance, and to the section on plastics in Appendix X4 and adjusts the bibliographic references per the previously received negatives. Numbering updates were also made per previous approvals. Only revisions that have been either “underlined” or “crossed out” in [red] shall be considered for this ballot action.
