1. Scope
1.1 This specification covers the requirements for laser beam powder bed fusion machines used to produce metallic space flight parts.
1.2 The requirements include the factory and site acceptance tests and the in situ process monitoring sensors required to meet this specification.
1.3 Compliance with this specification provides the user with necessary process control data to meet all production part classifications.
1.4 This specification does not specify the data format or protocols, but requires the part producer to have access to all relevant data.
1.5 Additional sensor requirements may be added to the machine purchase order.
1.6 Machine sensors do not guarantee part quality, but a fusion of sensor data can be used to decrease risk of rogue defects being undetected in the build cycle.
