1. Scope
1.1 This terminology consists of terms and definitions pertaining to the field of buildings and, in particular, terms related to both existing and proposed standards generated by ASTM Committee E06 on Performance of Buildings. 1.2 The purpose of this terminology is to provide meanings and explanations of technical terms in the building field written for both the nonexpert and the expert user. 1.3 This terminology is a subsidiary standard for the special class of terminology related to building enclosure systems. 1.4 Terms are listed in alphabetical sequence. Compound terms appear in the natural spoken order. 1.5 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety and health practices and to determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use.
