ASTM WK70416
At the International Code Councils Building Code Development Process, a proposal for identification systems was disapproved. it was suggested that a standard be built for firestop systems and fire-resistive joint and perimeter fire barriers be built to standardize the procedure for identifying or marking firestopping in buildings. The Firestop Contractors International Association published a Recommended Professional Practice, Identification Systems, that was reviewed by the manufacturer and contractor members at FCIA. A consensus standard is needed, and ASTM is the best consensus for this standard practice. The standard practice also compliments the ASTM E 2174 and ASTM E 2393 Standards currently required by the International Building Code.
