ASTM Committee F33 on Detention and Correctional Facilities was formed in 1989. F33 meets three times a year in conjunction with the American Jail Association and American Correctional Association Conferences, with about 35 members attending 1 1/2 days of technical meetings. The Committee, with a membership of approximately 140, currently has jurisdiction of over 10 standards, published in the Annual book of ASTM Standards, Volume 15.08. F33 has 4 technical subcommittees. The portfolio of approved standards and Work Items under development are available from the List of Subcommittees, Standards and Work Items below. These standards have and continue to play a preeminent role in all aspects important to the materials, products, assemblies, and systems used in the construction and operation of lockups and detention and correctional facilities for adults and juveniles.
