ASTM Committee E28 on Mechanical Testing was formed in 1969. E28 meets twice a year, usually in May and November, with about 55 members attending three days of technical meetings. These meetings occasionally include symposia on current issues in the mechanical testing industry. The Committee, with a membership of approximately 400 industry professionals and experts, currently has jurisdiction over 53 standards, published in the Annual Book of ASTM Standards, Volume 03.01. E28 has 11 subcommittees that maintain jurisdiction over these standards. Information on the subcommittee structure and E28's complete portfolio of approved standards and work items are available from the List of Subcommittees, Standards and Work Items below. These standards have, and continue to play, a preeminent role in all aspects of the mechanical testing industry.
