
Pelter became a member of ASTM International in 2004, when he joined the committees on concrete pipe (C13) and steel, stainless steel, and related alloys (A01). He received the Award of Excellence and Award of Merit (2022) for his contributions to A01 and the Robert R. Litehiser Award (2019) for his work with C13.
Ryan Pelter is a quality supervisor with Nucor Steel Marion. Previously, he was a senior design engineer at Liberty Engineered Wire Products, where he has worked since 2000.

He is currently chair of the subcommittee on steel reinforcement (A01.05) and the vice chair for the correlation and editorial subcommittee (C13.10). He previously served as vice chair for the executive subcommittee (A01.90) and subcommittee on acceptance specifications and precast concrete box sections (C13.07). Pelter also served three years on the committee on standards and received the Committee on Standards (COS) Service Award (2023).
Pelter received a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Ohio Northern University, and a master’s of business administration degree from the University of Findlay.
