ASTM WK81325

New Specification for Polyvinylidene Fluoride (PVDF) Pressurized Piping Systems

1. Scope

This specification establishes requirements for polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) piping system components made to metric sizes and IPS schedule sizes and pressure rated for water and chemical service. Included are criteria for materials, workmanship, dimensions, tolerances, pressures, product tests, and marking for polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) piping system components such as pipe, fittings, valves, and manifolds.

Keywords

PVDF; Polyvinylidene Fluoride; Fluoropolymer; Plastic Piping

Rationale

ASTM F1673 only covers PVDF corrosive waste low pressure piping systems. No standard exists to fully cover PVDF pressurized systems, which includes cohesive discussion on material, joining methods, dimensions and tolerances, etc. The users of this standard will be engineers and designers looking to specify high performance plastic piping that can withstand higher temperatures and more chemicals than chlorinated vinyl or olefin plastic piping systems.

The title and scope are in draft form and are under development within this ASTM Committee.
