Due to a necessity for safety and understanding in the building wire industry and an increase in market interest, it is requested to provide a standard for bimetallic components utilized in all building wire applications. This will ensure the components are manufactured with the end customers safety as a top priority as well as maintaining a quality bimetallic component. Distributors, builders, and contractors will specify compliance with this standard when purchasing bimetallic building wire to ensure proper manufacturing methods and protocol were followed.

The title and scope are in draft form and are under development within this ASTM Committee.
