At the last renewal ballot a negative was received with a statement that Volatile Organic Hazardous Air Pollutants (VOHAP) are analyzed using gas chromatography (GC) to separate the individual compounds and mass spectrometry (MS) to identify the compounds. Some modern GC-MS use high resolution MS. In this case the high resolution of the MS is used for separation, not only for identication. The MS then is used for separation and identication, especially if CI is used instead of EI.. Membership agreed that revision was needed to account for advances in technology as well as to address user requests for an applicability expansion. Membership agreed that significant revision was necessary but recognized that approval was necessary at that time to prevent this standard from expiring. The negative voter withdrew his negative provided that comprehensive revision commence upon renewal of the standard. The revision will include the expansion of this standards scope statement and associated enhancements. Membership asked that a collaboration area be created for this item as well.
