Several previous ballots have been issued to clarify how tension allowable properties show be assigned in the absence of tension test data. Previously it was thought this would require changes to both D2555 and D245. When resolving negative votes cast, it was decided to provide guidance on this topic in D2555 and not corresponding revisions to D245 were necessary. The following changes are proposed: A clarification to the coefficient of variation of tension parallel to grain as 0.25 in §4.2.1. Clarification is given regarding the size of the specimens used to obtain compression parallel to grain, perpendicular to grain, and shear strength in the captions of several tables. §4.3.1 and 4.3.1.1 specifies the order of primacy regarding available data when estimating untested tension. §X.1.3 now specifies different strength increases from green to dried wood for softwood and hardwood. §X.1.10 describe size effects on strength estimates. §X.1.11 gives information on assumptions of a conservative estimate when estimating design values for untested tension. Certain editorial changes are also included in this ballot: revision of footnotes to Tables 1, 2, and 3.
