New Practice for For Special Coatings for cast iron soil and fittings

1. Scope

The scope of the Committee shall be the stimulation of research relating to iron castings, the development of engineering information and the formulation and drafting of standards which will include specifications, test methods, classifications, practices and terminology relating to iron castings. Iron castings include gray, malleable, ductile, white and compacted graphite iron. Standards for pipes, tubes and fittings made of iron castings may include requirement for joining the pipes, tubes and fittings and methods for protection of these pipes, tubes and fittings. Standards for couplings and gaskets used in joining pipes, tubes and fitting made of iron castings may include methods for testing and installation. The work of this committee may be coordinated with other committees and other organizations having mutual interest.

This duplicates an older work item which was deleted because the time for completion had passed. The finished standard could be incorporate into design professionals job specifications when these coatings are used.

The title and scope are in draft form and are under development within this ASTM Committee.
