New Guide for Sampling of Building Water Systems for Legionella

1. Scope

1.1 This guide describes sampling strategy and procedures to test for Legionella in building water systems. 1.2 This guide is intended to be used by building owners, facility managers, water consultants, water treatment professionals, health and safety professionals, public health authorities, and other stakeholders. 1.3 This guide does not provide guidance for a risk or hazard assessment, development of a Water Management Plan (WMP), management or treatment of building water systems, investigation of outbreaks of Legionellosis, or the mitigation of Legionella in building water systems. 1.4 Units--The values stated in SI units are to be regarded as the standard. No other units of measurement are included in this standard. 1.5 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety and health practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use.
