New Guide for Ranking Footwear Bottom Materials on Various Contaminated and Noncontaminated Walkway Surfaces According to Slip Resistance Test Results

1. Scope

To develop consensus standard test methods, specifications, guidelines, practices, definitions, criteria, and nomenclature for pedestrian safety for the fit and function of footwear in relation to interfaces, walking surfaces, and devices used for the evaluation of pedestrian traction. This Committee will encourage research in this field.

The work of this Committee will be coordinated with other ASTM committees and other organizations having mutual interests.

This guide would provide a detailed method for ranking data resulting from testing used in the review of various shoe soling and floor combinations. This ranking could provide the basis for footwear selection to fill a required need.
