The development of tire standards (test methods, practices, and definitions, excluding specifications), to identify the performance characteristics of tires and the criteria to be used to measure and evaluate these characteristics.
The Committee shall encourage such research on tires as is consistent with 2.1, and shall provide forum for the presentation, and discussion of engineering and scientific information related to tire characteristics and performance. Research, as well as standardization activities, shall be coordinated with those of other relevant ASTM committees or other organizations having similar interests.
