ASTM WK88302
Climate change has resulted in increased frequencies and durations of more extreme weather events, including floods, hurricanes, wildfires, and tornadoes. The effects that these extreme weather events pose on buried structures has not been adequately addressed or quantified in existing standards. This standard practice offers a methodology to calculate and assess the risk that these events pose on buried structures and to provide guidance regarding how these risks could be mitigated. Users will include state departments of transportation, the Federal Highway Administration, and other specifying agencies for culverts and buried drainage structures.
