ASTM International presented its top annual award – the 2025 Award of Merit – to Richard Lund for his contributions to ASTM’s packaging committee (D10).
The prestigious award, which includes the accompanying title of fellow, is ASTM’s highest recognition for distinguished service and outstanding participation in ASTM International committee activities. Lund was recognized for his ability to foster compromise, indispensable work on over sixty packaging standards, twenty-four-year leadership on the subcommittee on corrugated packaging, and seven-year service as the committee's recording secretary.
An ASTM International member since 1986, Lund had been previously honored by the committee with the Alfred H. McKinlay Award (2023).
Lund is the owner and principal consultant of RC Lund Consulting, LLC. His career focus is containerboard packaging, encompassing mill and packaging plant operations, quality management, testing, and more. In addition to ASTM, he is also a member of the American Chemical Society (ACS) and the Technical Association of Pulp and Paper Industry (TAPPI).
Lund earned his bachelor of science in chemistry (1972) and master of science in pulp and paper science and engineering (1983), both from the University of Washington.
