ASTM International presented its Tilton E. Shelburne Award to Scott Fritz for his contributions to its vehicle-pavement systems committee (E17).
The award is given in recognition of outstanding work in the stimulation of research, dissemination of knowledge, and development of principles, techniques, and standards for vehicle-pavement systems.
An ASTM International member since 2016, Fritz is still an active participant in E17, with his latest work focused on writing and international training surrounding the walking speed friction tester.
Fritz’s career concentration is U.S. naval aviation and road and runway safety. He is retired as of 2025, after having worked as a quality assurance representative for SARSYS AB. He has also been active in the Swedish Institute for Standards and the European Union Aviation Safety Agency.
Fritz received his bachelor’s degree of business administration in management information systems from Northwood University (2000).
