Committee F40 on Declarable Substances in Materials

Staff Manager: Brian Milewski

ASTM Committee F40 on Declarable Substances in Materials was formed in 2005. F40 meets twice each year, in April and November, with approximately 50 members attending three days of technical meetings (every 3rd to 4th meeting of F40 is held outside of the United States). Existing legislation has placed restrictions on the content of certain hazardous substances in materials used in several industries, including packaging, vehicles, and electrical and electronic devices. This Committee addresses issues related to the development of standards for the evaluation of materials/products relative to RoHS (& similar) requirements. The Committee, with a membership of approximately 91, currently has its standards published in the Annual Book of ASTM Standards, Volume 10.04. F40 has 5 technical subcommittees that maintain jurisdiction over these standards. Information on this subcommittee structure and F40's portfolio of approved standards and Work Items under construction are available from the List of Subcommittees, Standards and Work Items below.
