New Practice for The Design of Occupied Suborbital Space Vehicles, Orbital Space Vehicles, and Orbital Platforms.

1. Scope

This practice contains recommended practices and design elements for suborbital space vehicles, orbital space vehicles, and orbital platforms (space stations). The practice includes those included in the FAA Recommended Practices for Human Space Flight Occupants Safety, Version 2 dated September 2023, as well as other information taken from other FAA and NASA documents, and items provided by commercial vehicle designers and operators.

Rationale

The practice is focused on providing a baseline of recommended practices and design elements to those designing human occupied commercial space vehicles. The practice is intended for use by those involved in the design, manufacturing, certification and implementation of those vehicles.
