New Practice for Incubation and Subsequent Evaluation of Geosynthetics to Chlorine Solution at Elevated Temperature Folded Geomembranes”

1. Scope

This practice covers a procedure for the accelerated aging of geosynthetics. It is ideally suited for 30 mil geomembranes.

Keywords

accelerated aging, geomembrane, geosynthetic, Chlorine

Rationale

The procedure allows for the evaluation of different geomembranes to various
chemicals. However the suggested experimental fluid is 10?ppm chlorine
dioxide (ClO2) medium at 50?°C. That said, the geomembranes and their immersion
liquids are project-specific and to be agreed upon by the parties involved.

The title and scope are in draft form and are under development within this ASTM Committee.
