Revision of C457/C457M-23 Standard Test Method for Microscopical Determination of Parameters of the Air-Void System in Hardened Concrete
Rationale
As the document is currently written, there are eight different ways in which area is referred. However, there are only two areas of concern. The most important area, the one referred to in Table 1 regarding the minimum area for evaluation, is the Traversed Area. The other area is the lapped surface area, which is the total area that has been prepared for the purposes of running the test. The Traversed Area is run entirely within the lapped surface area. This ballot will 1) provide clarification of the two area terms in the terminalogy, 2) place the correct area term for each throughout the document, and 3) define how to compute the traversed area.
