Revision of A638/A638M-20 Standard Specification for Precipitation Hardening Iron Base Superalloy Bars, Forgings, and Forging Stock for High-Temperature Service
Rationale
The Solution Treatment Times in Table 3 state exact hours but offer no tolerance or minimum. The times given are inadequate for larger section forgings and bars. There is a footnote that is associated with Precipitation Hardening Treatment that the times are a minimum. It can be read as presented that this is not applicable to the Solution Treatment. This may have been an oversight when originally written. This ballot is to apply the footnote to both to remove any misinterpretation.
