ASTM C1093 contains requirements for calibration and verification records for equipment. It is currently required to have on the record both the previous calibration/verification date and the next due date. It is not necessary to include the previous date. Of primary importance is when the date the work was performed, and being able to know when it is due next based on the calibration/verification frequency. Other similar standards do not include the previous date on records. Reports from calibration companies indicate concern with this as well, especially when the same company did not perform the previous work, since they do not have additional records to back up that date.
It is proposed here to modify 8.5.1.5 to only require the next due date on calibration/verification records.
