There are two primary reasons for undertaking the revision of the standard. Firstly, the standard needs to be balloted this year to avoid being withdrawn. Secondly, the standard will be updated, along with all of the other standards on forced choice discrimination test methods, to make the Thurstonian delta the primary measure of the magnitude of a sensory difference, with the proportion discriminators, P(d), from the guessing model becoming a secondary metric. Other technical and editorial changes will be made as needed.
