ASTM WK82533

Revision of D6496/D6496M-20 Standard Test Method for Determining Average Bonding Peel Strength Between Top and Bottom Layers of Needle-Punched Geosynthetic Clay Liners

Rationale

Question was raised by a user regarding type of grip mount to use as the standard is silent on this.
Task group did some informal exploratory testing with and without U-joint and did not find any
significant difference in test results.
Also - there is the propensity for some higher-strength GCLs to
exhibit failure in the textile portion of the product when testing in peel and thus not achieve the full
8 inches of peel separation required by the standard. A separate ballot item will be made to handle
these instances.
