Revision of E1155-20 Standard Test Method for Determining FF Floor Flatness and FL Floor Levelness Numbers
Rationale
Merge the Metric ASTM E11155M standard test method with this inch-pound units version (ASTM E1155) to create a combined units standard. Added metric units are noted throughout. Also changes to section 7.1 and 7.2.1. Only the changes indicated by strike through and underline are being balloted. This ballot addresses concerns expressed in a similar previous ballot.
Rationale for changes to section 7.
Though the term "Test Surface" is not used in the current ACI 117 draft, on multi-story building projects, the
restriction in 7.1 that the test surface “nor comprise” floors on multiple building levels has long been a source
of confusion. Rather than referring to the "Test Surface", the term "Overall F-Number Area" is employed.
Rationale for changes to 7.2.1:
The current 12 m2 [320 ft2] limitation in 7.2.1. conflicts with the following definition for Minimum Local F-Number Area in the draft proposal submitted to ACI 117: Each Overall F-Number Area shall also be divided into Minimum Local F-Number Areas, these areas being the rectangles bound by the building's column and half-column lines, or the rectangles bound by the floor's construction and contraction joints, whichever are the smaller rectangles.
