Revision of F1193-18a Standard Practice for Quality, Manufacture, and Construction of Amusement Rides and Devices
Rationale
F1193 does not require any information regarding the use of subcontractors and suppliers for amusement rides and devices. A procedure should be in place so that the manufacturer can evaluate, select, monitor and approve in order to ensure all required parts, components and services meet F1193 requirements (when applicable). Several other nationally recognized standards including ISO 9001, EN 13814, EN1090, etc., address subcontractors and suppliers.
Manufacturer should consider and approve those subcontractors/suppliers that have the ability to comply with 1193 requirements. This will also assist with the manufacturer issuing a valid certification of conformance as identified within F1193 section 4.5.2. This proposed ballot is only requiring a manufacturer to have a procedure and not specifying guidelines as to what the procedure shall include.
