Revision of C114-18 Standard Test Methods for Chemical Analysis of Hydraulic Cement
Rationale
Harmonization of the insoluble residue test method section 7.3.1 with AASHTO T105 to include language around how to add the NaOH solution and how to macerate the filter paper, and the removal of the option of bromocresol purple as an indicator. FDOT Standard Materials Office tested the NIST 1880b reference material following the insoluble residue procedure as described in the 2021 edition of AASHTO T105. Results show that a change in how to add NaOH solution does not affect test results; the maximum difference between duplicates is met according to ASTM C114, Table 1
