Revision of A615/A615M-20 Standard Specification for Deformed and Plain Carbon-Steel Bars for Concrete Reinforcement
Rationale
In 2017, standard A370 was revised to remove the requirements for the orientation of rebar while performing a bend test. At that time, language was introduced to refer the user back to the bar standard for additional bend testing instructions. The ballot action was never taken up to introduce this language into the various rebar standards.
Various producers and end users are performing this test in various orientations that do not comply with the bend orientation requirements of A370-15. The purpose of this ballot is to re-introduce those requirements, only in the event of retests or dispute resolution. Therefore, the language is being balloted for inclusion into section 14 instead of section 10.
