Revision of F770-21a Standard Practice for Ownership, Operation, Maintenance, and Inspection of Amusement Rides and Devices

During the balloting process of consolidating the multiple, standard-specific definitions of owner/operator into a single definition that now lives in F770, several comments were received requesting further updates to the definition. This ballot is the result of those comments and aims to improve upon the existing definition. The first proposed change adds inspection to the owner/operator definition to align the tasks with what is included in the scope and title of F770. Additional information on the inspection program requirements of the owner/operator is located in Section 8 of Practice F770-21a. The second proposed change in this ballot is the addition of the Discussion information to supplement the definition. Provisions for adding a discussion to terminology is included in E5.8 of ASTM Form & Style. The discussion statement is being added to prevent confusion over the difference in use of the term operator The term owner/operator is used in sixteen of the standards under F24 jurisdiction (to include all core F24 standards). If this ballot passes, the updates will be automatically incorporated into F747 which will apply the changes to all instances of the term within F24.
