Products that include a person as part of its system are especially complex and difficult to evaluate because people are highly variable and differ along a multitude of metrics (factors). This guide establishes post-development testing procedures that include the best practices for design of experiments which incorporate human behaviors and capabilities as variables. This guide may also be used to assist in establishing test procedures that include control systems operated by, or interacting with, humans at any level of autonomy. External (environmental) factors can modulate internal (physiological, cognitive) factors and thus should be considered.
