New Test Method for Ford LSPI Oil Aging Test Procedure

1. Scope

Provide a Standardized Test Procedure based on the Sequence X Timing Chain Wear Test Engine using production crankcase ventilation and oil pan systems to age the engine oil for subsequent use in the Ford Sequence IX LSPI Test.

Keywords

Oil Aging:LSPI Used Oil Testing:Ford Oil Aging Test

Rationale

The oil aging standard test procedure is needed as this test uses a modified engine configuration to run at oil aging conditions. The engine configuration is based off the Sequence X Timing Chain Wear Test, however, it uses production Crankcase Ventilation and Oil Pan configurations to more closely represent the degradation of engine oils under normal vehicular operations.

The title and scope are in draft form and are under development within this ASTM Committee.
