New Specification for Thermoplastic Crate Systems for Stormwater Retention and Detention Systems

1. Scope

This specification covers requirements, test methods, materials, and marking for thermoplastic (PVC, PP & HDPE) components for buried rectangular crate systems for collection, detention, and retention of stormwater runoff. Applications include commercial, residential, and roadway drainage, including installation under parking lots and green fields. Crates are produced in square or rectangular components that can be interconnected to provide multiple vertical and horizontal geographic configurations.

Rationale

There are currently no international standards that cover these products yet they are currently being produced and marketed in many countries based on either local municipal approvals or company literature/designs.
