1. Scope

A quantitative assessment of the performance of liquid antimicrobial test substances against Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Staphylococcus aureus designed for use on hard, non-porous surfaces. The method provides log reduction as the quantitative measure of efficacy.

This standard is needed evaluate the efficacy of liquid antimicrobial products against a dried inoculum on a hard, non-porous surface using a standard, prescriptive approach. The standard may be used by disinfectant manufacturers, regulatory agencies, researchers, and other organization to assess effectiveness of antimicrobial products,
