New Guide for Hazardous Area Electrical Equipment on Gas Fueled Ships

1. Scope

This Guide to emphasize the importance of properly installed and maintained listed or certified safe electrical equipment in hazardous areas in order to reduce the risk of fire or explosion onboard gas fueled ships. The focus of this standard is on IEC standards as referenced by International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS) and International Code of Safety for Ships Using Gases or other Low-Flashpoint Fuels (IGF Code).
