Due to the increased use of geocells in geotechnical projects, there is a need within the industry to characterize their material properties for design, quality assurance, and quality control purposes. One particular property of interest is creep. Geocells differ significantly from planar geosynthetics, and some aspects of current creep test methods for geogrids and geotextiles do not specifically address the unique attributes of geocells. A review and synthesis of creep data from current geocells is needed to understand whether appropriate additions to existing standards or the formation of a new standard is needed. Testing and analytical work may need to be done if data is currently lacking.
