New Guide for Use of Quality Related Terms in Measurement and Testing of Optical Properties of Materials
1. Scope
1.1 This Guide is limited to the provision of information about quality terms used within the context of the measurement, or testing, of optical properties of materials. In particular, the information provided here applies to optical properties whose distributions of multiple measurements are not normally distributed, as is the case for sets of color-differences.

Rationale
Users are colorists who must deal with the fact that collections of color-differences do not form a normal distribution. This means that conventional statistics definitions such as are contained in E456 may not apply to their situation. This guide takes them through the subject matter from their own perspective.
The title and scope are in draft form and are under development within this ASTM Committee.
