Rationale
In a high proportion of cases, in-service failure of natural stone paving is the result of improper application, rather than the inherent properties of the stone. A better understanding of stone paver material properties and expected service conditions can mitigate failures where failures are attributed to the stone itself. This document is intended to identify best practices, and provide guidance to architects, engineers, contractors, and material suppliers who design, select, specify, install, purchase, fabricate, or finish stone products for exterior paving applications.
The title and scope are in draft form and are under development within this ASTM Committee.
