The activities shall be coordinated with other ASTM Committees when necessary.
The area of interest of the Committee is materials used in the construction and maintenance of highways, and other transportation construction.

aramid fiber; fiber-reinforced asphalt concrete

Currently there is not an ASTM standard specification for aromatic polyamide (shortened, aramid) fiber for use in asphalt mixtures. Aramid fiber usage in asphalt mixture applications is growing across North America. A standard specification is needed to ensure that the agency is getting a consistent product. This standard specification will cover the composition, physical properties, and product form for the use of an aramid fiber in asphalt mixtures.

The title and scope are in draft form and are under development within this ASTM Committee.
