Existing language in ASTM C926-20a prohibits the use of aluminum as flashing. This restriction conflicts with ASTM C1861 which allows anodized aluminum alloy as an acceptable material for lathing accessories (reference 4.2.4 ASTM C1861-18). Being that anodized aluminum alloy is an appropriate material for lathing accessories, it is only reasonable and appropriate that it can be used for flashing as well. The proposed ballot item revises ASTM C926 to allow for anodized aluminum alloy flashing.
