Instructions for performing a quantitative antimicrobial efficacy assessment of various sizes of pre-saturated towelettes when challenged against Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Staphylococcus aureus. Product efficacy is considered a combination of the mechanical removal of inoculum from a surface and the chemical inactivation of the test microbe remaining on the surface; this method does not differentiate between these two attributes.
Towelette; antimicrobial; Staphylococcus aureus; Pseudomonas aeruginosa; wiping contaminated surfaces
To generate a quantitative antimicrobial towelette efficacy test. The test is anticipated to be used to assess the efficacy of pre-saturated antimicrobial towelettes. The method can be used by testing laboratories such as federal labs, contract efficacy testing labs, and antimicrobial towelette manufacturers.
The title and scope are in draft form and are under development within this ASTM Committee.
