ASTM WK72915

Revision of D1048-20 Standard Specification for Rubber Insulating Blankets

Keywords

None Provided

Rationale

The AC current is the best option to detect manufacturing defects, due to the ionization of the air in the hollow voids inside of the rubber. Due to the ionization, the product will fail at the point of the defect. The DC current doesnt offer the same destructive properties. Recommended Updates to the current updated Standard from Discussions in F18.25 Task Group Meeting and an Affirmative with Comment on latest Ballot from ASTM F18.25 Subcommittee Member Richard A. Rivkin.
