New Test Method for Prepreg Tack Using Rolling Resistance
1. Scope
The test method describes measurement method to quantify tack level for low to medium tack composite prepregs . The test method is suitable for the measurement of tack at room temperature as part of material quality control.

Rationale
There is currently no acceptable test method to quantify prepreg tack. Current tack test methods for adhesives are not able to measure low tack values of composite prepregs. In particular, they are not able to differentiate between acceptable low tack necessary for automated fiber placement (AFP) processes versus higher tack preferred for hand layup processes. Target users will be material suppliers as QC tool.
The title and scope are in draft form and are under development within this ASTM Committee.
